Monitoring Authority Requirements

The requirements that should be followed by a Good Laboratory Practice Monitoring Authority are found in Part Two of the OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice. See Further Reading and Resources.

This requires that member countries shall:

  • Designate an authority or authorities to monitor compliance
  • Put in place procedures for monitoring compliance with Good Laboratory Practice Principles based on laboratory inspections and study audits

Basic guidance on how to do this is provided by the OECD in the form of two documents in the series on Principles of Good Laboratory Practice and Compliance Monitoring; Guidance for GLP Monitoring Authorities.
