Good Laboratory Practice states that apparatus, including computerised systems used for the generation, storage and retrieval of data should be:

  • Suitably located
  • Of appropriate design
  • Of adequate capacity

Also records should be kept of periodic inspections, cleaning, maintenance and calibration.

In addition, management should establish procedures to ensure that computerised systems are suitable for their intended purpose, and are validated, operated and maintained in accordance with the Principles of Good Laboratory Practice.
