Management must also provide archive facilities for the secure storage and retrieval of study documents and data, and samples of test items and specimens.

The archive design must ensure:

• Contents are protected from untimely deterioration
• Access is restricted to authorised personnel
• Indexing is in place to facilitate orderly storage and retrieval
