Monitoring and Assurance
Whatever standard is being applied, the organisation will require some form of monitoring and assurance to demonstrate that those standards are being maintained.
Auditing is an appropriate tool for this monitoring and assurance process, but it should be remembered that individual audits are normally part of the bigger picture of an audit programme.
