Risks, Issues and Actions

Two other key terms are linked, and sometimes confused, with risk management. These are issues and actions.

Within management and project management methodologies, risks are often managed in conjunction with issues and actions, as the assessment and review processes are often interlinked.

Issues

According to the preceding definition, a risk is not certain. If a risk does not occur then the consequences do not have to be dealt with.

An issue, however, is something which is certain - as such it has consequences that must be dealt with.
